You, Have a Heart

They’ve just discovered the heart’s
our primary organ of perception,
the body boss, who in a heartbeat
sends guidance to the brain.
What a change of heart!
It makes mine skip a beat –
coming home to knowing by heart
that always it’s been true.

So now I set my heart
on getting every day
to the place beneath all pretence,
to the heart of whatever matters.
Digital tricks and corporate ploys
don’t stand a chance
when you wear your heart
on your keyboard sleeve.

Don’t lose heart. Whatever occurs
take it to heart,
the place where healing starts.
Follow your heart, even pour it out.
From the bottom of mine to yours today,
may our hearts stay, in the right place,
the place where love’s the body boss.
Cross my heart, it is.
