Wisconsin June

Another June and once again
I love this elegant world
and every bit of its bravest bounty.
I dance like the tops of the aspens
in the sliding shawl of the wind.
Reverence lifts my heels to click in thanks.
I kiss the ripe black mulberries
as do the lips of morning sun.

I swish my wings
like the busily-building Housefinch.
I hold the pose of a Page
trumpeting the wonders
of June. June. June!
May I never not remember
the jubilance of June,
the finery of Wisconsin June.
