Why Mexico

photography by Susa Silvermarie

Here I live my days
between the Eagle of the north
and the Condor of the south.
Balancing between,
I walk a Middle Way
weaving whole to part to whole.
Middle child, I invite
poles to sit together
at the feasting table earth.

I waymake in between
ancestors from stars
and fire at the center of the earth.
Here I stand receiving messages
from far above and deep below.
I’ve been carried to this place,
meant to see the stars from here
from exactly here,
from this middle place.

I breathe in the heart at the center,
I live in the middle
of inside and outside,
in the chaos at the core
which is always whirling to create.
This sacred middle land, my mother,
both soft and wild jolting stern,
has called me here to do the work
of balancing as kin between.
