When We Remember
When we remember
the environment is a current
flowing through us,
then common consciousness
streams. And we can speak
with plant and animal kin.
We sing our consciousness
with elephant and plum tree and street dog,
with starbeings whirling in the cosmos.
When we remember
that we are nature,
it changes how we care.
When we remember, oh!
We jam with the voices of our gifts
and the instruments of our paths.
We lift our earthsong,
a single hymn of belonging,
into an infinite river.
