We Move Like Light
from The Music of Dolphins, a novel by Karen Hesse
A big home
where all the time is singing
and touching in the big wet.
We go where we wish,
and all around us
swims the big music.
Through the wet breath of the sea,
we fly,
we move like light.
The wild paths of the water
open, and we dive.
The long song, on and on
it sings on wings.
All one family in the big sea
the strong singing inside us,
a song that grows and changes,
each of us, part of the long song
in our one wet home.
