Today I Taste the Mountain

Today I taste the mountain.
Oh giant yellow mushroom
foraged among her oaks
in the forest only yesterday,
You are golden in the butter,
You are rapture in my mouth.
Amanita Laurae,
oh beautiful saprophyte,
you can’t be cultivated
but only grow from trees.
You are golden in the butter
You are rapture in my mouth.
The mountain near my home
called by all the Cerro Viejo
grows the trees and gives the substrate
that gifts me with your goodness.
You are golden in the butter,
You are rapture in my mouth.

Oh Susa! This is perfect. As are wild mushrooms! I have been foraging mushrooms for several years and can absolutely relate to the thrill of putting these beauties in my mouth and in my body, feeling my connection to the soil and sun and life unseen. Thank you!
