To Live like Water

My prayers in the form of petals
strewn lavish
in the sacred lakes’ waters
a whole year’s gathering of roses,
a year’s wealth of gratitude,
I floated like a great baby,
safe, and singing.
I spread my arms in motion
measured and gentle,
and seemed to fly
weightless
under wide sky,
floating like a happy baby
safe, and singing.
Three seagulls, one by one
flew over me in blessing.
Hello, hello, hello!
Tender air everywhere
caressed me from above
as I floated like a cherished baby
safe, and singing.
The water and the air
refreshing me with the same
just-right touch, matching my blood
so my body disappeared,
I hovered like a spirit
and floated like a weightless baby,
safe, and singing.
Above the rim of the waters
rose the emerald green mountains,
the good earth, too, cradling me.
And the fire of the mothersun
laughed down upon us all
as I floated like a smiling baby,
safe, and singing.
And then I understood
it’s water I am to become,
that this is the year
for me to live like water,
to let nothing cling my skin.
To float like an elder baby,
safe, and singing.

I love the musical refrain!
Safe and singing 🎶. Just how I feel when I float effortlessly on my back!
