Sympathetic Strings
It’s so much more than singing.
I want those sympathetic strings,
like those in the Veery’s throat,
like those on the Hardanger fiddle.
I want them ringing in my ears.
We need to vibrate with compassion,
in our speech, in our heart, in the world.
We need this more-than-singing
to chorus out and out and out
around the wide wide world.
