So Slow and Noticing

Once I moved with no defenses
like a new-hatched baby turtle.
With guidance I survived and now,
my turtle self delights
in strength and wordless speaking.

My younger turtle self,
much criticized and judged,
grew to fit me like the garment
of a sunburst shell deflecting
whatever is not love.

I dive between the moments now,
to learn the workings of the world.
How seagreen deep with music
is the space between the words.
Patience now becomes me.

My seasoned turtle self
has limbs that swim me through my days
with grace, with confidence
With Turtle as my guide, I can exult
in living slow, and noticing.
