Slowing Down to Dance
“Slow down and down and down
in widening rings of Being”.
Rumi described what I now live;
the quieting of the pace,
the rhythm of the rings.
The losing of the words,
I like not so much, but
after I leave them behind,
I find it doesn’t matter greatly.
I make the poem another way.
As for agendas, well,
I’m a jubilada.
So the calendar doesn’t matter,
not the way it used to.
Whatever I miss, I surely didn’t need.
What I like the best
about this slowing down,
is how the widening circles
open inner senses
to realms I never took the time for.
These days I can be happy
anywhere I live or travel. Letting go
ideas fixed like rocks to my back —
lightens my spine,
invites me, ah, to dance!
