Sacred or Profane

photography by Susa Silvermarie

Sacred? Or profane, they ask.
What earthly beauty
is not sacred, and
profane.
Profane as a yellow primrose
greeting you in the morning,
profane as a pine tree
pouring light upon you as you pass.
Sacred as a baby being born
sacred as the spring
where waters fall and run
to make the holy lake.
Illusions of duality, begone!
What wounded beauty
is not sacred, and
profane.
No religious rules are needed
to mark each step as blessed,
or for human hearts to hold
sacred sorrow, sacred love.
Eat your temporal breakfast
with your Third Eye open,
It will nourish body and
your infinite self as well.
Illusions of duality,
just veils we learn to peer through.
What is sacred and profane?
Everything there is.
