Raise a Glass of Praise

To every heart that mine has touched
and made me who I am.
To the ancestors of my body,
whose lives gave mine, all the way back and back.
To my cherished Poet gonebefores.
To the Tai Chi teachers who’ve shown me
how to move through life.
To the suneaters of earth, the Green Beings
who make possible our existence.

To my beloved Greater Consciousness,
companion of my heart since first it beat.
I raise a glass of praise
to living fully and with open eyes
In our age of annihilation and rebirth.
I raise a glass to praise
the great wide everything
from which we each have blossomed.
Here’s to every improbable thing.
