Ordinary

You live in a world where otherworldly
is a prevailing condition.
A face from space may greet you
in the maze of the rose
opening in your garden’s shade.
Whenever you deliberately look,
the peculiar will show itself.
See the way the candle flame
winks and winks at you
like some other knowing soul.

So ordinary, the exceptional,
as to continually fail to note it.
Try to see the start of rain,
the moment the airy vapor
falls heavy wet from cloud.
The familiar is hardly mundane.
What seems so plain
is quite exceedingly strange.
If your life is humdrum, you can wake,
can stop. breathe, receive godmind.*
