On Summer Solstice

Doesn’t matter whether
you have the eyes for it.
You can sit in darkness
and the light will still
shine through you.
Doesn’t matter whether
you fence yourself in tight,
or triple bolt your city locks.

The light pours out of you
and touches the ground
underneath your basement room.
You have neighbors all around.
Neighbor trees
are reaching out with light.
Songbirds and air, neighbors
everywhere,
all the family of beings
with whom you share the planethome
are touching you with light.

The light shines bright, flows through
me and you with every thought and move.
We dance with light and lightness.
We carry light
with wild love
all the way out to stars.
Feet bare upon our living Mother,
we dance the light on Summer Solstice.

  • Oh how I love ❤️ your beautiful poem. We are surrounded here by our neighbors the trees, deer, raccoons, blooming gardenias, and whispering rains today. An abundance of friends showering their light upon us. May your Summer Solstice be blessed with light as we now travel back towards the dark days. Love you Susa!
