My Valentine Arrangement
The Daisies in ruby red,
clustered in families on each stalk
spray their stems in a generous arc.
A single Gladiolus
with her orange-red sword of truth
pierces through the arrangement.
Two arched Calla Lily chalices
buttress the sides like white invitations,
like stalwart announcements of love.
We could make such an array
of height and color and shape,
our leaves not green but human.
We could assemble ourselves
in displays that radiate
the beauty of every diversity.
May we humans learn to shine
the bounty of cooperation
and the harmony of flowers.
