Living Room

Where do you dwell
in the House of Time?
Many of its rooms
entrance you backwards.
You could rest in them
most of your life.
Many rooms call you
to dream ahead.
You could stay there
until, shockingly,
your life is done.

Only one room sings.
In the Living Room
shines the only moment there is.
Hanging out there
makes life – lived!
Other rooms of time, well,
it’s good to visit them,
memories so dear
or dreams of what’s to come,
but Ooeee, the Living Room
is where life’s at.

Being in the Living Room
makes you equal
to every other being.
At ease, just another
being in the Living Room.
Soon we each walk on.
But not yet!
Don’t anticipate.
The only place to be
is the only moment there is.
In the Living Room.

You don’t know
what’s coming ahead,
it’s not going to be the same.
In the Living Room,
you don’t have to know something
before you know it.
You needn’t know anything
ahead. It’s blessed. You can dwell
in the House of Time
here, just here,
in the room that sings.
