Keen on Receiving

Extrovert, I can do,
but oh, quiet moments
between souls.
A shine, something
settled and collected
which I cannot, in groups,
match, or catch.
Lifting the teacup
while I listen,
I am here
not elsewhere in my mind.
The pleasure
of presence
streams through me.
I lean
toward the companion,
keen on receiving
his surprises.
Tea for exclusively two.
Between easy pauses,
ah, being heard.
Brings forth
things I didn’t know
live within me.
I mix when I must,
but satisfaction
comes heartfelt
when I am gathered up
by one other,
as in a kitchen over tea.

Oh yes…
“…but satisfaction
comes heartfelt
when I am gathered up
by one other,”
this “being gathered up by one other” is language I’ve been searching for to describe a longing I’ve been having recently, Searching for some kind of loving comfort, also a way of learning more about myself in the process of exchange with a beloved friend or family member.
Nice to see David as I only remember him as a little boy.
