First Act

I did not birth myself into this world,
she tightened down to push me out.
Pushing is precisely
what is called for now.

The First Act, the pushing act,
sets the scene of the world created.
No one ever called it
comfortable.

Our species writhes in Labor.
Between the stages you must rest,
you must gather strength
to lend it to the being coming forth.

Future worlds
do not emerge with ease
but thrash through passages of past.
Now we tighten down to push the baby out.
