Happy Even After

Jinete de la Noche, silkscreen by Pat Apt

Not vanished, old love.
What it gives to the Allness
cannot be stopped. Even after
a parting of ways,
frequencies of deep endearments
travel out to stars,
expanding still
to reaches we will never know.
Not useless. Old love
pours healing thick as honey
over Gaia’s aching places.
Love cannot be thrown away.
Heartfelt sharing keeps on
invisibly pouring blessings,
silently giving gifts.

You don’t feel it?
You can’t touch it?
How can you know
that somehow, somewhere
it continues?
And why, if it endures,
does it hurt like hell?
The invisible air
we breathed in and out
yesterday, last year,
persists, spreading still.
Energy of every kind –
whether or not we spot
its transformations –
carries on. Like your love.

And aren’t the marks of growing
what you came here for?
Each today
is why you came.
Take the stretches it brings,
embrace it, even after
what opened you,
changes shape.
You so wanted to experience
a physical world, intense sensations
that never stop moving through,
while you who are
love,
learn to remember
how to balance in gratitude.

Not vanished, old love.
What it gives to the Allness
cannot be stopped. Even after
the parting of ways,
frequencies of deep endearments
travel out to stars,
expanding still
to reaches we will never know.
Not useless. Old love
pours healing thick as honey
over Gaia’s aching places.
Love cannot be thrown away.
Heartfelt sharing keeps on
invisibly pouring blessings,
silently giving its gifts.
