Elsewhere
Even though there is no longer
an Elsewhere left to travel to,
no place still unmapped,
no culture still unknown enough
to wake a lazy western seeker,
the wanderer is alive and well.
Now we vagabonds go inward.
In Journeying we find the adventures,
the thrill of unfamiliar kinship,
the shapeshifting to other species.
We fasten a chrysalis and hang
in dreamy transformation.
Giving up boundaries, we travel
to Otherworld dimensions.
Katmandu or lands of Fairy Folk
or interstellar destinations,
the explorer extends her quest
in order to expand compassion.
It’s our unlimited souls we roam.
The nomad was home all the time.
Elsewhere was always right here.

That last line hit home, no pun intended. It’s all right here.
Where was that photo taken? Cool.
