Bracing for Change
In the dream you’re in an elevator
and the walls inside the box
are sliding slowly down.
You spread your arms to brace the walls.
It stops their sliding, you use your body
to balance, balance the box.
The walls inside
are colored murals swirling.
But steady, you stay steady.
In the midst of nightmare
you stay firm and able
to hold the energy stable.
Is it a sleep dream, really?
Maybe guidance, maybe counsel,
an image of brave support,
to reinforce the equilibrium required
for change we get to live through now.
The muscle of trust is what we have.

“for change we get to live through now.” That is a wonderful reframe of the chaos of our day -shifting toward privilege to build a better vision of what it is to be human and live in community.
