Beneath the Names

photography by Susa Silvermarie

When I cannot name a thing,
I’m learning how to holler, Yes!
Experiencing a person,
or a flower, or a feeling,
I let my experience swell,
and release the crazy need for naming.
It pours my curiosity
straight into the essence of the thing.

When I do not focus on a name,
my presence to the presence
of the sound, of the sensation,
of the terrain that’s in my face –
can be reciprocal.
My feet receive the ground,
the ground receives my feet.

When I forget a name, or choose
to forego the act of labelling,
I amplify response
to the energy coming through!
I attend the person, the bird, the experience.
I open a different door of attention
and discover the magic beneath the name.
