Anahata

Ana-hata: literally, unhurt; heart chakra; original heart at birth

High in the mountains,
the full moon’s rim
rises from a scalloped cloud.
Her soothing light expands,
making of the whole night sky
an unmarred milky quilt.
I raise my arms
and bare my heart in reverence.

Into every mountain crevice,
into every human separation,
her moonlight spreads and grows.
I feel my heart return
to its first and early state,
to ana-hata: unstruck, unbeaten.

To the moon I lift the kiss
of my unhurt heart.
Luminous with mirth, she blooms
and laughs away
everything but love.
