A Blink Within a Vast Slow Splendor
I’m looking forward to finding out,
when I die, what I came from,
the state of being before I chose the thrill
of being in a physical body
on the physical body of a planet.
Before I chose this beautiful blink,
the trail on which I’ve walked eight decades,
my consciousness had no confines.
I wanted the excitement of edges,
the borders and bounds of the body.
I’ve been given enough years to learn
from mistakes and much shortsightedness.
The sorrows carved room for the joys,
the senses have spilled with beauty.
It’s been more than everything I hoped for.
Soon I’ll be ready to unbind from my body
and lay it gently down, to unblind
and return to the normal of being
in relationship with everyone all the time,
of reaching everywhere at once.
During this flash within the vast slow splendor,
my heartbeat is chanting gratitude
for growing my spirit here on tiny earth.
And I give thanks ahead, for the time
assigned by me to leave for wholeness.
