Woven into the Fabric
Woven into the fabric,
I can’t fall out.
Coral softnesses
called petals,
bring their scent divine called rose –
It enters me, is woven with me.
And the hummingbird
that hovers close
sipping nectar in my garden –
woven, inextricable.
How did I not know this?
How did I ever feel separate?
Humans think we walk alone,
a joke, a sad mistake.
Let us laugh at the hubris –
and let it go.
The wren singing
so large from her tiny body,
serenading the morning world,
exploding with life in her voice –
also woven in.
Woven in with me!
I am part of this!
I never walked alone.
Thank you, petals,
and hummer, and wren,
for getting me out of my jail,
for breaking the bars I made
with my crazy thoughts
of separateness.
I now cannot unknow –
how surely I am woven in.
