Viriditas

May the Green Beings forgive us
for lifetimes of blindness
to their love and to their lessons.
We emerge from the cave of human hubris
and yield to the living green.
We lay down our senseless fight to stand alone.
The environment flows through us.

Our safety comes from taking our place
as little sister,little brother,
to all the other beings.
Our protection comes
not from barrier of skin,
but from boundaryless connection.
Our refuge lies in belonging.

The curtain now draws back,
to illumine the human heart
with the interwoven brilliance of the earth.
Part of nature, not apart.
These latter days the path
opens so there’s only time
for steadfast offering of thanks.

Held in the family of beings,
our place so tiny, is required.
Knowing our place in the whirling
brings us to a humble trust.
Our offering miniscule and essential,
back we fall, together,
into the arms of Gaia.
