Uncoiling our potential,
we turn ourselves
into human luminous

Have you been sick?
Did that old fear
rise through you again?
As it discharges,
the detox that feels like crap.
the wounds,
and the healings
that feel so personal, so private,
are species-wide,
a path of human evolution.

Now comes the beginning
of an awakening age.
If we have our safety
figured like insurance,
imagination has no room.
One by one we find out
safety only comes
when we take the greatest risk:
for the benefit of all beings,
becoming our Selves.

Lightning-swift are the shifts.
Are your friends dying?
Do you hear in your sleep,
Kali’s banshee shriek
of fearless courage?
Her high voltage shock
brings with it the ability
to sustain the very force.
to stand as member of the living earth,
to open to the power offered.

The old world and the new
are co-existing.
The one we feed with attention
brightens and becomes.
As the other
shatters and fades,
we each bear
the terrible pain of release.
And we run in joy
toward fresh beginnings.
