Traveling Thoughts on Mother’s Day
Five score years and then three more,
my mother’s been alive on earth.
I honor the path of my mother’s life,
though her epic tale’s not yet complete.
Since she’s known for having no regrets,
she may already
have made her goodbyes.
Though my mother lives in a nursing home,
I refuse to presume her loneliness.
If she still was choosing to speak,
she might quote Rilke: “Let everything happen,
beauty & terror. Just keep going.”
Everything, the scientists say,
is made of energy. Seems we knew,
when we used to say, I’ll send you love,
or when we said, I’ll pray for you.
My thoughts are travelers,
an energy that touches hers.
My mother’s far from me,
but connected through the Field,
she and I are quantum-entangled.
And so I send my messages of love
today on Mother’s Day,
And so I know in some way she
like a satellite dish receives
messages I can’t transmit in person.
I honor the path of my mother’s life.
