Time Pours Through
Volunteers from around the world
come to Bali to work with the turtles,
and each week in a batch,
they board the tuktuk again to go.
The turtles hatch! And grow.
And move on to their home in the sea.
Impermanence rules, rules.
I dream a suitcase at a threshold
I stand in the silent doorway,
but behind me and ahead,
I sense a pour of life.
Time pours through my body,
ancestors pour through my lifetimes,
And impermanence rules, rules.
The rain descends, and disappears.
For a tiny precious while
a song is singing my heartbeat.
Evanescence laughs loud as a cloud.
We dance, you and I,
ephemeral as rain.
Impermanence rules. Hooray!
