Social Motion

My body is an action I can never catch
every instant different and new
even when I think I am the same.

My life, between its start and end,
makes a nonstop journey
even when I stay at home and silent.

The world itself, a spinning verb
laughs at my attempt to pin it like a static map,
at my foolish framing everything as noun.

Since movement is the only thing there is,
since alive must mean becoming,
no wonder all of us are always reeling.

You and me, the patterns of our energies
move through each other as we say hello.
Our social interactions are a wonder.

Now with social distancing,
connecting our becomings
grows more precious every day,

Don’t try to hold still, you can’t.
Call your friend or brother or niece.
Hear each other. Help your neighbor.

Cherish our living, moving patterns
belonging to each other,
in an undivided whole of much becoming.
