Put Right
Since my friend returned to me,
after our arduous parting,
something feels different.
How thirsty I must have been
that now a sense of cool water
soothes my throat so.
Since she came to visit
after this long time,
something’s been put into place,
a bone’s been set again.
Or a phantom limb
has again taken flesh
so I can, once more,
feel my fingers touch my face.
Something has been
put right.
I moved through days confused,
dissolved inside a cocoon.
After she came to visit,
next day I emerged
in a world, beneath a sky
different from the day before;
softened, tender, new.

I hear a reconciliation has occurred. A burden lifted. I love your poetry.
