Post Election Dread at 3 AM

Hey, Dread. What the hell are you?
That is, can you please help me understand?

Well Lovely, I’m just boot-shaking fear.
Lodged tight, like a close-fitting suit.

So I can take you off, Dread,
like a suit?

Darlln’ I’m on for a reason. Besides,
I thought you wanted to embrace what’s here.

True, but you, you’re too heavy to wear.
Do I have to?

Well the deal always is,
it’s quickest if you do.

Quickest for what?
What are you for, Dread?

I’m a catalyst, Little One. I’m the Chaos
that has to be part of a Great Turning.

But I gotta shake outta your buzzy suit.
I don’t wanna shudder like a puppet.

Hey, I’m not evil. Or outside.
Just an ingredient in the Chaos soup.

Okay okay, you’re here, but
it’s hard to breathe with you encasing me!

Now we’re getting somewhere. And by the way
it’s you, you know, engendering me.

Oh the thoughts thing, I forgot. But
I can’t stand being trapped like a mummy.

I’m not a binding, baby, just
one of the feelings in your jewelry box.

So if I look at I you in the mirror,
I can take you off, okay?

Yeah, we’re good for now,
Go back to bed, I’ll let you sleep.
