Pealing in Puglia

Lecce Morning
During language class the church bells
seem to peal in Italian,
a tone so spumy in the Puglia air,
I imagine the bell tower
has also gone to froth.
The sounds in my ears
and those tumbling out of my mouth
new this April day of Fools,
welcome a place I have known before
only through ancestor bones.
