Pause Between Places
In this pause between two places,
I only have time for gratitude.
I am a precious stone
lifted from its setting —
and held up to the light.
Through my blue-framed screendoor,
the woods,
dark green and dreamy,
call me, call me free,
call me fresh and further.
Viewing my life through story lens,
I notice the gates,
doorways where I’ve lain down frail and naked;
where then, implausibly,
I’ve risen in vigor again.
On the threshold now, I feel
the Quantum One
smile her courage upon me,
telling me to give away
what appears to have been taken.
I don’t always know it,
that really, every moment
I’m at a gate of change.
But today, oh,
today I know, I know.
