On Hallowmas
A Drop in the Stream
On Hallowmas
A drop in the stream, I
call upon the river.
On this sacred day
I call upon my Dearest Dead.
A father a sister a love,
artist friends who burned so bright,
an aunt a cousin,
grandmothers!
I call my beloved dog.
You Gone-befores walk close.
Through the flimsy veil
I touch you,
I remember—
I am wide and flowing.

Hello my dearest spookiest sinister sister Susa,
On this Grand Finale and New Year, as one hand reaches for the other,
as memories recede and hopes dare, I think of you. My heart stirs a cauldron of dreams and laughter, deep wisdom and secrets. I stand with you against the blustery winds and wide open expanse of the mountains and lowlands between us. I shout out Thank Mother All Mighty for meeting you! My bewitching sister, my sincerest
sauciest Susa, may the New Year bring with it more awareness and laughter than we are ready for.
With much love on a crispy cold Milwaukee morning, Happy Samhain!

Your ‘comment’ is a strong poem, thank you for your strength on this last day of the wisewomen’s year.
