Light and Darkness

Darkness Mother of Skoteino Cave,
down into your velvet cavern
we descend. And descend.
Here we are, ready to be rearranged!
Light Mother of Mount Juktas,
we climb and climb to stand
in your brilliant scrutiny.
Here we are, asking for transformation!

Dear Darkness of the deep cave,
dear Light of the high peak,
teach us how your faces
show the inside out of one another.
Turn the mound of our beating heart
inside out, Mother,
to reveal its scars.
that light and dark may heal them.

We are Darkness of the cave,
We are Brightness of the peak,
We can hear the inbeat
of our local selves, stitched to earth;
and the outbeat of our cosmic selves,
riding constellations of connection.
The Mother has formed us in Darkness
The Mother has birthed us to Light.
