Do Not Go Gentle

Nihue Rama”Tita” Lamay

When the little life is nearly done,
spin, spin, at the coming of the light.
Do not go gentle, no.
Before the molecules move over,
let the full of wildness come forth.
Let the earthy self
show her wild in final fullness.
Let the quiet Elder rise,
the hybrid human/angel grown
who comprehends at last.
Let her rise and show the world
what wild is, what wild can be.

Let us rise now, hardly gentle.
Let us rise now, feral and complete,
before we leave this broken paradise.
Let whatever bars contained us
burst, and free our wild knowings.
Let our tribe of millions
steer the earth in time to save it.
Our rugged Elder faces with nothing left to fear,
now unrestrained and riotous,
storm the world in stony voices,
calling out the way to wild undoing
of war and greed and every smallness.
