Lecce per Susa

For cities I don’t have poetry, but here are poetic images that have captured me in Lecce. The city shows a visible sweep of centuries, rooting one’s present humbly in the past. When I stand in the Piazza Sant’ Oronzo, I see a panorama of baroque architecture from the 16th century at the same time as I see buildings from the Nazi era; and then the Roman Amphitheatre built in the 2nd century AD suddenly appears, almost intact, a window into the rich past of ancient Lupiae. When I walk to Parco Belloluogo to jog and do Tai Chi, lo and behold, in the middle of the park rises a medieval tower. Here I am alive in many times at once. Here I am multidimensional, and loving it!photography by Susa Silvermarie
